Liver for Active People

Snack Food Needn’t be Just Silly Carbohydrates

Liver is a power-house of nutrition. Beef liver is low in Sodium and is a good source of Iron, Zinc and many other nutrients the body needs—including Copper and Selenium.

I bought a pound of liver and cut it into pieces—bite size pieces. I put some onions into my Life Time electrified skillet, and got them pretty well done. (In my awesome brilliance, I had fried some good bacon from Doyle’s market. The  bacon grease and onions make me happy.)

Get the Onions Partially Fried First

Now comes the liver. I pushed the onions to one side and got the liver started. Didn’t take long. Then I mixed the two together and carefully fried the liver. Didn’t take long.

Nutritious Snacks for Healthy People

Now I have finger-food for when I need a snack—this will keep in the refrigerator for a week, but will not last that long. “He, he, he.” This, for me, is a good low carbohydrates  health food.

Germs vs Probiotics

Germs vs Probiotics

Probiotics are good bacteria that are necessary for good digestion.

Remove the Food Preservatives that Kill the Probiotics in Your Gut

  • Did you know that food preservatives are needed to help get fresh produce from around the world to our table? However, these can cause us digestive problems–like diarrhea.
  • It can also cause diarrhea and other food sensitivities in some people.
  • Sulfur dioxide is one antibacterial agent that is added to our produce to retard spoilage by killing the flora and “fungus-es.” (little humor there)
  • Food preservatives kill the probiotics,” the good bacteria”, and the bad bacteria, in our intestines. They also harm our immune system and make us more likely to get sick.
  • When we eat, what we think is a healthy salad, it might not be so healthy to our intestines.

Washing our produce can remove most of the food preservatives

  • We can remove most of the food preservatives from fresh produce by washing with plain water; others can be, neutralized, with a solution of 1/5 vinegar and water.
  • Probiotics—are the friendly little guys who digest my food. We have about 16 trillion of these in the average gut.

Protect  your body by adding some probiotics to each meal

We need to add probiotics to each meal to replace those killed by the preservatives in our food. Probiotics can be found in most cheeses, raw sauerkraut, kimchi, live culture yogurt and raw vegetables which are killed by cooking.

Sauerkraut is Easy to Make–Right in Your Kitchen

Remember folks, a little bit of attention to our food will pay big dividends to you health and happiness as we march on into our future.

Meet the Day With Power and Stamina

The day is long and destiny is coming like a freight train through the tunnel-of-my-life.

I must prepare my body and mind for a happy landing in this big arena. A few minutes of preparation and some pre-prepared foods from the freezer will stoke the engine of life. My metabolism needs almost 4,000 calories each day. I need to get these from basic foods. No expensive “prepared foods” for this old goat.

Basic Ingredients

Backwoods People Should Eat Like They are Serious

  • Roasted onions
  • Steamed Broccoli
  • Raw tomatoes
  • Steamed green beans
  • Steamed kale
  • A small handful of juniper berries
  • Three chicken broth ice cubes
  • Three vegetable broth ice cubes

Some Good Hard Cheese and Fermented Vegetables.

A generous helping of basic cheeses and some fermented vegetables that are loaded with probiotics and prebiotics will help guard my from many harmful. Prepared foods have preservatives that help get them to me–their long journey to my table demands that they be protected from spoiling and other hazards. Probiotics will help clean-up the hazardous ingredients, things like mercury, lead, pesticides, food preservatives and many other toxins.
They will work hard for me; very much like the “bugs” cleaned up the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Healthy Bowel Movements are Important Too

Good bowel movements are the result of a healthy diet. I read one doctor’s report that said we need large, firm stool to clean the Colon and rectum. Colorectal cancer can be the result of a diet that is lacking in solid matter that cleans the lower bowel.

Heat in a sauce pan–eat this before it can escape.

Secondhand Sugar is a Problem for Our Children

Secondhand Sugar is a Problem for Our Children

The Struggle to Maintain a Healthy Body Begins Before You are Born

Our children suffer from too much sugar even, even before they are born. Medications, nicotine, secondhand smoke and sugar all cross the placenta to the unborn child.

Secondhand Sugar is Like Secondhand Smoke

  • The secondhand sugar disrupts healthy growth and development–and poses a risk for obesity.
  • The struggle begins with the fetus and then breastfeeding. If a mother drinks sweetened
    Relaxing is easy

    Tension, tension, tension

    fruit juice–the baby does too.

  • A study from the CDCP.* If a sugary drink is consumed two or three times a week at 10 to 12 months of age the child has twice the risk of becoming obese.

Children and Babies Can’t Decide for Themselves

Children are too young to make informed eating choices. Aggressive marketing and parental misunderstanding place taste sensations above nutrition. Too often the child is not actually hungry–but the parent wants the child to eat.

School Lunch Programs Are a Problem

  • School lunch programs and the child are trapped. The child doesn’t really want “that food” so it must be sweetened in the hope for acceptance.

Artificial Sweeteners are New Problem

Certain types of sugar–especially artificial sweeteners–are especially damaging during critically periods of growth. Fructose, as added to beverages, can cause cognitive impairments when consumed during adolescent growth periods.

Artificial sweeteners in diet soda consumed during pregnancy can double the risk of the child becoming overweight.

As a final Insult Sugar is added to infant formula

Juniper Berries Add a Nice Flavor to Beef Broth

My beef broth always had an unpleasant taste and aroma, until I learned to add a handful of juniper berries. That killed the mule-flavor, now the kitchen smells better. The Germans even use juniper berries to enhance SAUERKRAUT–wow.

Detoxify your body with juniper berries

Juniper Berries Helps Remove Cellulite Fat

Juniper berries have no side-effects, but it is wise to them during childbearing years. They are an astringent that are used to remove cellulite fat–the much-despised fatty deposits under the skin.

Juniper Berries Will Help You Maintain a Healthy Body and Brain

Add these nice little guys to your daily diet. Make a tea, chew them raw, throw a few into your breakfast dish. It doesn’t matter if you are having bacon, ham, eggs or corned beef hash. I don’t know about cereals, but it might be fun to try a few.

Juniper berries are a good antimicrobial agent because of their antiseptic properties.

They are effective against the infections picked up at hospitals, (MRSA), staphylococcus, athlete’s foot fungus, and slow-healing skin wounds.

Juniper berries may be effective against arthritis and other joint problems. They aid in avoiding flatulence, bloating, heartburn and kidney and bladder stones. Juniper berries fight urinary tract infections.

This breakfast provides a host of nutrients for a hungry brain and body. The black olives, hard cheese, fermented garlic, raw red onions, gin-soaked raisins, hummus, sautéed portabella mushrooms, and free-range eggs contain trace elements that the body craves.

These foods are all compatible and digest well together

These foods are all compatible and will digest well. Some Limburger Cheese would help too, but I left it out because this salad already contains about 5,000 calories.

Raw sauerkraut in your diet every day

Raw sauerkraut rules the meal, with over 400 types of probiotics and lots of fiber, you will be happy and healthy (live yogurt contains 2 or 3 types of probiotics.) Extra virgin olive oil will provide lots of Omega-3 oil for a healthy body and brain. The tuna fish is also loaded with omega-3 oils that are important for health–especially brain health.

Eat a Widely Varied Diet

Our ancestors ate what they could find, where and when they found it. Apparently, they ate a healthy diet that caused the brain and body to prosper. They ate bugs, snails, rats, and fruit and vegetables–in season. They survived and prospered.

The human body learned to store enzymes in the liver, calcium in the bones and fat under the skin. We need vitamins, fats, proteins and minerals in our diet; this includes things like tin, iron, aluminum, lead, copper, mercury, sodium and calcium. Our best chance for obtaining these is a diverse diet.

Three Balanced Meals Each Day is Bogus

Three balanced meals each day was concocted by special interest groups–as was our Federal Food Pyramid; when the National Cattlemen’s Association complained about the first pyramid, the federal boys changed it to include more beef. Feast and famine builds strong bodies and keen minds.

Our Restricted Diet is Making us Unhealthy

We have a restricted diet that lacks many of the needed nutrients. The best way to regain our health is put more nutrients to our diet. Nuts, green vegetables, berries–especially cranberries, a dozen, three times a week is all you need, they are sour, but eat them anyway. Begin by adding as many colorful raw foods as you may find.

Don’t Try to Starve Yourself Into Health and Weight loss

Begin by incorporating many strange foods into your daily routine. As time marches along, you will learn to like, and look forward to a forkful of raw sauerkraut or a handful of cranberries. Search the produce section for okra and other strange food that have been there all the time.

A world of pleasant experiences await your search.

Greens have iodine that we need in our diet

Iodized Table Salt Is  Important to Your Health

Iodine deficiency is our problem. For 50 years, we have been told we are eating too much salt, and now we are iodine deficient. Our laws don’t require food processors to  use iodized salt–other countries laws do.

Iodine from sea kelp is cheap in your local health food store, (about $6.00 for a year’s supply) and 4-5 drops each day is all we need.

We are not eating enough greens grown in fertile soil and we are not getting fish that is raised on natural foods.

Iodine Deficiency Causes Thyroid Disease

When I was a child, in the 1940s many older people had goiters, a tennis-ball sized growth on the side of their necks. The problem was caused by lack of iodine in their diet that caused thyroid disease.

Two hundred years ago, the French nutritional chemist, Jean Baptiste Boussingault, recommended the distribution of naturally iodized salt to prevent goiters; our country did so in the 1920s.

In the 1920s, the federal government mandated that all table salt be iodized.

Symptoms of Thyroid Deficiency: Fibrocystic breast disease, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, Down’s syndrome, mental retardation, cold hands, depression, dry skin, cold hands–the list is long.
